Roulette Rules

A very popular traditional casino game is the game of roulette. Roulette is a game in which players place bets on the outcome of a spin of the roulette wheel and which pocket the ball will land in. There are two different types of roulette wheels; American and European. On an American roulette where there are thirty eight pockets whereas the typical European roulette wheel only has thirty seven. The wheel has pockets of alternating colors of red and black with numbers going from zero to thirty-six. On an American roulette wheel there is also a double zero pocket. The only pocket on the roulette wheel that is not red or black is the zero and, in American roulette, the double zero as well and these are both green.

Players are allowed to places bets on what pocket the ball will land in, whether the pocket will be red or black, the number, whether the number is odd or even, or make a number of bets based on the column or row it will land in when corresponding to the board. After all the bets are placed, the croupier spins the wheel and then spins the ball around the outside in the opposite direction of the wheel. As the ball goes around the outside, it slowly loses momentum until it falls into the wheel. The wheel slowly stops spinning and the ball eventually lands in a given pocket. After the spin is finished, the result is announced, all wagers on the table are settled, and then the next spin is set up.
